Evidence of My Nest - Virtual Tour

This is an installation done at the Amazing Things Art Center (atac) in Framingham in April 2021. The work was all created over this past year and centers around quarantine. The installation is divided into three parts - a series of paintings, standing quilts, and ceramic buildings. If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you want to leave behind for the next generation of people? In a radiolab episode, Cataclysm Sentence, Rebecca Sugar says that she would like to leave behind evidence of her nest - the things she loves and proof that she was alive. This past year has been painful and humbling and that little saying has bounced around in my head as I tried to make sense of what it means. I miss my family, I feel displaced, and my relationships are squished into fragments rather than experience. I know my loneliness is not singular and I have made this work to articulate the tender, the gentle, and the sweet moments we have found during this messy time. I still feel all mixed up but I hope this work can stand as evidence of the things I love and the way that we have supported each other, peering at a distance.
